JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT AWARD

The JAG Grant is a direct award grant that is available to local municipalities and other government agencies for the purpose of law enforcement programs and technology purchases. The City of Rock Hill (Rock Hill Police Department) has been awarded $24,703 for the 2008 year. There is no match required for this grant and official approval by the governing body is not necessary.

 

 

After discussion with Chief Gregory and Command Staff at the Police Department, the decision was made to use the available funds to purchase the following equipment: Firing Range Electronic Equipment Renovation and two (2) Mobile Data Terminals.

 

 

The Bureau of Justice Assistance requires all JAG applications be made available for review by citizen at least 30 days prior to application submittal for comments. To review the document or offer comments please contact Carrie Gordon, Grants Administrator at 329-8736 by August 4, 2008.

 

 

 

 Have you registered your Home or Business Alarm?

   

Effective January 31. 2006, a new False Alarm Ordinance went in to effect.  The ordinance requires that all Alarm Systems located within the boundaries of the city limits of Rock Hill to be registered with the Rock Hill Police Department Alarm Coordinator. 

    

Currently, the ordinance requires all registrations to be renewed annually.

 Since the passing of the Alarm ordinance, false alarms have been reduced by 20%.  The reduction in false alarms is allowing the department to spend more time responding to Calls For Service and being pro-active in areas of identified criminal activity
